Cabled Knit Slouch Pom Pom Hat
I had not realised it was over a month since my last blog post, seems like the weeks are getting shorter and not enough hours in the day.

I received a lovely photo from the Canadian Tourist Board showing the cup scarves order we completed ready to be used . I think they look really smart and everyone was really pleased with them.  It's great seeing your work in situ as we don't often see our knitting after it has been despatched.

Our Big Bang Theory Christmas style hat is a best seller at the moment everyone wants one which is great and we love knitting them. I have a very large bag of red and white wool in office as do not want to run out of this.

Also enjoying knitting our new range of cable hats, love the self patterning yarn as everyone is different.

Have to share this beautiful bag from LJGreywolf it is a work of art.

There are so many great gifts for Christmas on Etsy so thought I would share a few more :)

Washi Tape and Washing in the rain.

I have to share my new found love for Washi Tape, it is brilliant and can be used for so many things. There are so many designs, see photos and links below to buy some, it's a must have.

It was so sunny this morning I did something I rarely do, hang my washing outside and of course within 15 minutes we had a torrential downpour, that validates why I use my tumble dryer! Sun is shining again now but I am not being caught again.

I took some cute photos of my dogs looking through the decking to check where the hens were in the garden before going down.  I don't know why I have worried about the hens over the last two years if the dogs were to get near them, they are a tough little trio with no fear of anything at all. You can see them on my Clickclackknits Instagram.  Had to include some photos of my lovely trio of hens below.

Looking for lots of lovely worms to eat now free to
roam in the whole garden, no more pretty plants to ear!

She is dust bathing although it doesn't look like that, the sun
was shining on her!

I have nearly finished knitting my latest order for the Paul McCartney Tank top. I do love knitting this but am also really pleased when they are nearly complete.

Some new hats have been added to my shop.

Knit using random patterning yarn.
I love the bright colours in this hat.

Rain is back again and very windy, so finally given in and put the heating on.  Forgot to bring in the dry wood to light my fire so I won't have the pleasure of knitting in front of the fire today.  Never mind, tumble dryer working overtime, dogs looking a little sad because they hate the rain, hens hiding under the decking where I put their second food tray, the guinea pigs and rabbit are all snug in their houses, so the only thing left for me to do it make a lovely latte (yes I love my coffee machine but do only have two a day!) and knit.

Exciting Time

Had a 'exciting' time last week as we went to Go Ape - myself and my three daughters.  I thought I knew fear of heights before I went but I didn't!, I managed two of the 5 courses but then had to stop as I froze at the top of a ladder for which seemed like hours but was actually only a few minutes. So proud of my daughters as they completed the whole course. My youngest daughter would do it again and again, she loved it.

Feeling a bit sorry for myself over the last few days as had a tooth extracted which took 45 minutes and a lot of hand and head holding by the dental nurse!  The tooth just didn't want to leave the safety of my mouth so was clinging on as much as possible :) Hopefully don't have to do that again for a very long time.

Got caught in a torrential downpour this afternoon.  Went to post my orders and it was quite nice weather outside. As there was a long queue I had to wait about 10 minutes and by the time I went back outside it was torrential rain overflowing the gutters and huge puddles everywhere.  Seemingly it caused a lot of traffic jams as well as the drains were flooding as could not cope with the amount of rain.  Sun is shining now!

Have created a few new hat designs this week which I am really happy with.

Chunky Cable Hat in Acrylic, can be knit in lots of colours

Different cable pattern in two colours

I call this my bumble bee beanie in DK Acrylic

My Big Bang Theory Hat has been very popular over the last two weeks which is great as I love knitting this hat.

Three of my hats featured in these lovely treasuries this week.

I bought a lovely selection of Sublime pure merino wool this week and as the weather is not supposed to be very nice this weekend I am going to sit in front of my log fire, complete my orders hopefully and then I will be able to start knitting some new designs with this wool. I love the postman delivering new wool:) My office is so full of wool it needs a room to itself.

Now going to make a coffee, grab a nice bar of chocolate and knit :).

Rain and Knitting

So much rain last night I didn't have to fill the hens water trough! but lots of worms for them to find this morning. At least they were snug in their coop when the downpour started.  Guinea pigs and rabbits were snuggled up with lots of hay, they are not as daft as the hens and go inside their hutches when it rains.

My hats featured in two Etsy treasuries this week! Both blue.

Knit in Fishermans Rib so extra chunky.

I am busy knitting a lot of chunky ribbed pom pom hats for the winter as they are really popular.

I think everyone has been caught out with how cold it became so suddenly after all the beautiful sunshine. It felt really peculiar turning on the heating after 4 months!

I have also added some new headbands to my shop.

I always have one in each coat as they are small enough to keep in your pocket for when it gets cold and windy. I actually have to wear them in the summer if it is windy, it does look a little peculiar but my ears do not like any sort of wind. That was the reason I decided to knit my own then add them to my shop. Coat hoods never stay up when it's really windy! I don't know why they are designed to be so big.

This one is extra wide and extra thick for the really cold, windy days.

They are knit in acrylic so can be machine washed and tumble dried on low, so easy to take care of.

We are going to 'Go Ape' in a couple of weeks, why I agreed to this I don't know as I am scared of heights! Funnily enough I am really looking forward to it though. Hopefully there should be some photos mostly of me making a fool of myself I think.

New for Halloween and Christmas

Some fun little Mug/Cup scarves for Halloween. They can be tied around anything. These can be knit with other words, a maximum of 6 letters to ensure it is shown on the mug and in any colour combination.

Also some for Christmas, I am trying to plan early this year so I am not inundated with orders as in previous years.

Sun is still shining in the North East currently 21 degrees today and not a cloud in the sky but I can't believe how quickly the nights are drawing in. The hens were ready for bed at 8.30pm last night but for some reason they have decided not to go into their coop by themselves any more! They will now only go in through the guinea pigs and rabbit enclosure which is how they used to 6 months ago before we opened the back of the coop.!  I think they must have been frightened by something but do not know what as that is the way they come out in the morning. So now have to remember to look outside every few minutes to see when it is nearly dark otherwise they sit huddled together by the gate - they do have any outside hut but they don't go in there.  They are funny little things.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday.

Monday 19 August 2013

Just had to share this beautiful wool with you. It is handspun and dyed from a shop called TheFibretree on Etsy. I love it and the shop has so many beautiful wools to choose from.

Also this shop KimmiesClayKreations has some really oh so cute items like the one below:

That's it, now back to hoovering the decking while they are painting :).

We have been growing lots of veg and fruit this year.  Our Cape Gooseberries are finally ready to eat and they are scrumptious - is that actually a word - we have about 40 plants grown from seed.  Unfortunately our 4 apples on our new trees were blown off in the strong winds last week but the rabbits, guinea pigs and hens loved them, also the broccoli. We picked the radishes at the weekend and they are delicious too, especially with a little salt, well that's the way I like them.

Also completed a new colour combination of my Magical Mystery Tour Paul McCartney tank top.  After looking at so many old photos I realised that there was red in this pattern also.

Acrylic Yarn

I am really pleased with this and have another two orders to complete, one in merino wool so have taken a long time to find the right colours as pure wool is not as bright as acrylic.
Chunky Merino Wool
Merino wool and Kid Mohair

Also finished two more pure wool Big Rib Pom Pom Hats. I love knitting these hats, also added the pattern to my Etsy shop.

We are also in the process of repainting the outside of our house, well I'm not but husband and daughter are, but it has to be jet washed first so there are thousands flakes of paint flying around at the moment so all windows and doors are shut! It's quite funny watching them hoovering up the paint flecks from the decking.  I only painted the decking 4 months ago but it will need to be done again, maybe not by me this time.  Glad it is not so hot now in fact it is a little cool but really pleasant. Can't believe we haven't had the heating on for 3 months that never happens in our house.

Feel a bit guilty now, even though I'm working, so going to help with the hoovering!....

Saturday 10 August 2013

Well the sun has finally gone today and it does look like rain - at least won't have to water the garden. We did have torrential rain this week and I hadn't realised that the upstairs window were still open and the rain had poured in and soaked everything on the window sills and carpet below!  Forgotten the rain could do that after so much sunshine.

I bought some beautiful new merino wool this week, gorgeous colours, which are sometimes hard to find in wool.  Can't wait to start knitting with it but have to finish my orders first.  I am mostly knitting fairisle at the moment which I do love but it is much more time consuming but I love the finished garments. I have added the pattern to my shop for Penny's Big Bank Theory Christmas Hat, I love knitting this hat.

Sadly we had to have our beautiful little Gecko put to sleep this week, the vet, who was so kind, said she was just old and very tired. I don't like this part of keeping pets at all.

Haven't seen the hedgehogs anymore maybe they don't like the new house we built and have moved.... Our hens seem to love the sun as they are laying more eggs than usual and love dust bathing, not keen on the rain though and hide either under the trees or in their outside shelter.  Found out they love melons, we have been eating a lot lately and I decided to put some down for them, it was gone within a few minutes.

Well off to start knitting and the sun is now shining, maybe I should do the hoovering instead but no that can wait until tomorrow x

Sunday 4 August 2013

Another busy week, knitting of course.

We found a family of hedgehogs at the bottom of our garden, so far seen mom and two babies.  They seem to have made a nest under our tree at the back of the garden behind the chicken coop. Actually Benton found her, just sat and barked until we went to look in the main garden.  After putting him in the house - didn't want him to scare her any further although I think it was him who was very scared as he didn't go close - we watched her crawl under the gate and run off behind the coop, they run so fast! The next night we think it was her again and then last night Ray saw her and two babies following behind coming from the garden next door. So today he built them their own little house with a rather impressive pointed roof, looks like a little chalet and we've been leaving out some cat food each night when I put the hens in their coop - there is plenty of water as the hens have several around their part of the garden. So going to hedgehog watch tonight from behind the fence so we don't disturb them, will try to get some photos.

New range of Big Rib Pom Pom Hats, also the pattern is available to buy for anyone who would like to knit their own.

One of our lizards is really poorly and we have to take her to the vets tomorrow, she is 10 and 8 years before we rescued her she was used as a breeding Gecko. She doesn't want to eat at all and we think she is loosing her eyesight as just wants to sleep in her house all the time. This is not like her at all.

Guinnea Pigs and rabbits look rather fat and tired this afternoon as they had a great time eating all the grass cuttings and some of the vegetables we had grown but had now gone to seed.  The rabbit seemed to mostly enjoy the roots of everything, that must be way he used to dig up our plants when he was allowed in all the garden!.

Sun is still shining here and very warm, 22 degrees, our heatwave hasn't stopped yet. We seem to only have had lots of rain through the night, never did get the thunderstorms which were forecast.

Now off to have something to eat and maybe a latte :)

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

So Busy

Been very busy over the last few weeks, lots of orders and coping with the heat - fans in every room or keeping the curtains closed as we are south facing but I am not complaining promise! Also putting ice in the dogs water bowl every few hours to keep them cool.  Luckily the hens, rabbit and guinea pigs enclosures are in the shade under the trees at the bottom of the garden.

Finished an order for a Tank Top - as worn by Paul McCartney in the Magical Mystery Tour - this was a really interesting knit. I do love Fairisle but it takes many, many hours to complete, that's just the knitting, sewing together takes a long time too so many strands of wool.

I bought some beautiful new wools - a mixture of Wool and kid mohair and Wool and Alpaca .
Natural wools are so lovely to knit with.

It's a little cooler today so going to catch up with all the housework I haven't done - my excuse is it was far to hot and what a waste of the sunshine and that's perfectly true :). Just waiting for the forecasted thunderstorms to arrive this evening, Clifford is so scared of these we have to make sure the windows and curtains are shut and keep him snuggled up with us until it passes.  Benton couldn't care less and wants to look out of the window at what's going on.  Missy and Minnie (the cats) usually just go under the settee and sleep as cats do. Here's hoping the storms aren't as bad as they say they are going to be.

Wishing everyone a wonderful start to the week.

Wednesday 26 June 2013

Finally finished my poncho.

Cream and Puple Poncho Hand knitted - One of a Kind - Womens - Acrylic Wool mix

My mom found two crocheted shawls she had made in the 1970's that had been packed away for years.  I remember having one myself, well actually four of them, I don't know what ever happened to those. I remember wearing them for nights out and with my jeans. I wonder if I can convince her to dig out the pattern and make me one.
70's Vintage Hand crocheted Fringed Shawl - Off White/Cream - Brushed Acrylic.

Have been listening/watching the tennis on my laptop while keeping up with my emails and sadly one of my favourite players, Lleyton Hewitt, lost but he never gave up trying that's why he is so good.

Hopefully will be able to watch some more tennis later when I have time to knit.

Hope all having a good day and the weather isn't as dull as it is here.
